What happens when an IBM Master Inventor can't resist an electronics sale
Hursley developer Dom Storey received a Raspberry Pi as a birthday present. And there's no such thing as an unwanted tech gift when you're an IBM Master Inventor. Especially when his local electronics store also had a sale on.
So obviously he built a weather station with it.
Using Open Source software that publishes to Weather Underground (motto: "real weather from real weather geeks") he created a local weather station to publish updates to Twitter and Facebook. The Pi powered the station, collected data, sent it to a public weather API, and published every ten minutes.
Come and talk to Dom about how he's now addicted to Pi, with a home weather station, and others for his son's Scratch and Minecraft endeavours and a MAME Arcade emulator.
Obviously we should have called this demo "Weather Storey" because of Dom's surname, but we were not sure weather you'd think that was a spelling error.
