Preparing the workforce for a secure future
Transport, healthcare, government, news, utilities, retailing. When tech touches lives in a million different ways, cyber security is the first line of defence.
The UK government knows there's a shortage of skills for this., so the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC, part of GCHQ) set up the CyberFirst programme. IBM Security has partnered with them to deliver it with a range of activities - from one -day courses for 11-14 year-olds through to year-long undergraduate placements.
Work placements in industry provide a mixture of applied work and educational opportunities that cover a wide range of security topics. The NCSC gave IBM the industry champion award in recognition of our UK industry leadership.
In 2018, IBM was the largest industry partner for the undergraduate cohort, training a group of students in a varied curriculum covering the range of IT security topics. Training ranged from basics of networking and device configuration through to some advanced hacking and defensive exercises.
Students also work on projects in operational support, and learned good practices from Design Thinking and Agile Development.
Come and see how our student training introduces IBM Security products and services, technical topics and other skills development.
